As a Fine Art engagement photographer in Bordeaux, let me show you my work through Simone and Julien’s photos at Parc Majolan.

Engagement Session at Parc Majolan

It was after seeing Élodie and Mathieu’s photos from their After the Day session that Simone fell in love with Parc Majolan in Blanquefort. Having this couple photoshoot before their wedding was a real choice, and something they truly wanted. The couple loved the park’s unusual setting and its biodiversity. For the record, Parc Majolan is one of the listed parks known as “remarkable parks”.

If you would like, the Bordeaux Tourisme website has a short video of Parc Majolan seen from above.

Walking through the park with Simone and Julien, we were lucky enough to come across incredible settings along the way.

Wooded paths, the edge of a pond, little rocky bridges and even artificial grottoes let me vary the backgrounds of my photos.

And on that day, natural light was my best ally for bright, romantic Fine Art photos.

Simone and Julien: How We Met

Simone and Julien are both Swiss and live in Switzerland. I was lucky enough to meet them in Bordeaux in the autumn of 2021.

For this session, Simone and Julien pulled out all the stops: plain outfits in light tones that bring brightness to my photos, the bride-to-be’s wavy blonde hair and radiant smile, and a bouquet of pastel flowers from LP Floral in Bordeaux, matching her dress.

After the engagement session at Parc Majolan, all three of us left delighted with such a lovely, joyful moment.

Simone, Julien and I got on so well that they ended up inviting me to dinner at La Tupina, a gem of South-West French cooking in Bordeaux. What a pleasure to share moments like these a few months before their wedding!

Because yes: Simone and Julien were celebrating their marriage in September 2022 at Château Pape Clément, and I had the joy of seeing them again to photograph their wedding.

Their short trip to Bordeaux in March also gave them the chance to meet other suppliers. Their wedding was planned with great care by Mélissa Wilpotte, a wedding planner in Bordeaux.

I truly had the feeling, in the months that followed, of taking part in the wedding of friends!

Wedding Photography in the Fine Art Style

Simone and Julien’s engagement session is a perfect example of what Fine Art photography is: bright, refined images, pastel tones, and the visible grain of film photography.

These are the main elements of Fine Art photography. Of course, every photographer brings a little of themselves to their pictures, which is why no two Fine Art photographers’ images look the same. And all the better!

The film look is really what gives an image its character and its uniqueness. Since I became a wedding photographer specialising in Fine Art, I have seen how much each photo that is carefully crafted, during and after the session, adds to the whole series.

A Fine Art photograph deserves this care both during and after the shoot, because it is seen at its best on Fine Art photo paper. Indeed, Fine Art printing is the icing on the cake.

As a Fine Art engagement photographer in Bordeaux, I work with two European photo labs to print my images on Fine Art paper, and I am very happy with them.

As an aside, for anyone passionate about film photography: I have the professional equipment needed to cover weddings and engagement sessions on film, always in my Fine Art style. It is available as an option, on request. If you are interested, we can talk it through and plan your future photo session together.
