Caroline and Sébastien celebrated their wedding at Château de Seguin, in Lignan-de-Bordeaux, with a vintage feel from start to finish. Here is the story of their day, from the billiard room to the dance floor.

Planning a Wedding at Château de Seguin

The history of Château de Seguin

Château de Seguin has a long history: it goes back to 780 and the Count of Seguin, an administrator for the Emperor Charlemagne, when the estate’s first château was built. The buildings we know today were built around 1780, on the foundations of that earlier château, some 1,000 years later.

Château de Seguin today

Today, Château de Seguin hosts private events such as weddings, corporate parties and family gatherings. Its reception hall can welcome up to 300 guests and is equipped with everything you need for a successful event.

A family wine estate with an exceptional terroir

The Château de Seguin vineyard covers 95 hectares in a single block, mostly classified as red Bordeaux Supérieur. The family also produces white Bordeaux and Crémant. The grape varieties are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot for the red wines, and Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris for the whites. The soils are typical of the Entre-Deux-Mers, with clay-limestone hillsides, very stony subsoils and steep slopes.

The owners have brought an innovative approach to running the estate, introducing sustainable, environmentally friendly practices in the vineyard while keeping traditional winemaking techniques. With the help of a team of passionate professionals, they have also modernised wine production at Château de Seguin, while preserving the quality and authenticity of its wines.

Around Château de Seguin

Château de Seguin lies in the village of Lignan-de-Bordeaux, itself surrounded by vineyards, at the heart of the Bordeaux wine region.

The surrounding area also offers plenty to do for visitors. Wine lovers can enjoy tastings at neighbouring estates, while nature lovers can walk in the woods nearby.

Caroline and Sébastien’s Beautiful Vintage Wedding at Château de Seguin

A carefully considered wedding

Getting married is often a strong temptation for new couples: a young and often passionate love makes them want to share their story with family and friends in one big celebration.

For Caroline and Sébastien, marriage was not an immediate priority. They preferred to focus on their shared professional project and on their family before thinking about a big celebration. They also gave life and love to two wonderful children.

A few years later, they decided to take the plunge, and entrusted the planning of their wedding to a talented wedding planner, Mathilde Le Gars of Agence Unik Day. I was overjoyed to learn that Mathilde had recommended me to Caroline and Sébastien, after showing them the work of photographers with several different styles.

Choosing Château de Seguin in Lignan-de-Bordeaux

With its two pointed turrets, its rolling, wooded landscapes and its setting at the heart of a large wine estate, Château de Seguin won Caroline and Sébastien over straight away. The couple wanted a wedding in vintage colours. Their wedding planner found beautiful objects to create an intimate, retro atmosphere, thanks to the talent of Le Scénographe.

The bride’s beauty

It was during Caroline’s preparations that I discovered the work of the lovely Fanny. She brought out our bride’s beauty with natural make-up and an elegant hairstyle. Her hair was adorned with flowers by the sparkling Marion of Brume Flower Truck, whose work was magnificent, especially Caroline’s sublime bouquet. And what can I say about the wonderful wedding gown by designer Eléonaure Pauc? I love it!

A moving church ceremony

After a game of pool among the boys, Sébastien posed for photos in the château gardens. He then joined his guests for the religious ceremony, held at the Church of Sainte-Eulalie in Lignan-de-Bordeaux, not far from the château (the church of Marion and Jean-Benoit’s wedding at Château de la Ligne, too). It was both moving and full of humour, thanks to an "extra-ordinary" priest. After the ceremony, Caroline and Sébastien posed for a couple photoshoot among the vines, then in the château gardens.

A joyful, emotional cocktail hour at Château de Seguin

The cocktail hour was joyful and emotional, under sunshine and at times testing heat. The guests wholeheartedly enjoyed the caterer’s work, with flawless service throughout the cocktail hour and the evening.

It is hard to judge a caterer’s quality from photos. Still, I can assure you that the guests wholeheartedly enjoyed the work of Capdevielle Traiteur. The evening was brilliantly led on the decks by Jérôme of Sacrée Soirée, who came all the way from Nantes for our lovebirds.

An unforgettable wedding

In the end, Caroline and Sébastien’s wedding was a complete success, thanks to the collaboration of talented professionals and the beauty of Château de Seguin. The memories of this day will stay with them forever, and my Fine Art images now let them relive this unforgettable day.

Thank you again, Caroline and Sébastien, for trusting me. Thank you for your gentleness, your kindness and that touch of madness I love!
