Château de Garde saw Marie-Sophie and Sébastien’s wedding in the autumn of 2020. I am delighted to tell you about the advantages of an autumn wedding at Château de Garde, then about their wedding day in this exceptional venue near Saint-Émilion, and to share my Fine Art wedding photos.

Getting Married at Château de Garde in Autumn

An enchanting setting in autumn

Getting married at Château de Garde, in Moulon, in the autumn has many advantages. First of all, the setting is simply enchanting. The trees have begun to lose their leaves, laying a brown and reddish carpet beneath your feet, while autumn colours light up the surrounding landscape. Temperatures are pleasant, neither too hot nor too cold, so you can make the most of the setting and the activities on offer.

Delicious menus made with seasonal produce

Another advantage of an autumn wedding at Château de Garde is the food. Chefs can create delicious menus with seasonal produce such as mushrooms, chestnuts, pumpkins and apples. Warm, comforting dishes such as stews, soups and slow-cooked meals are especially popular at this time of year, although I must admit I have not yet seen these menus at the weddings I cover. Red wines from the Bordeaux region, such as Saint-Émilion or Pomerol, pair perfectly with seasonal dishes.

Attractive rates in autumn

Finally, getting married at Château de Garde in the autumn can be a more affordable option than in high season. Rates are often more attractive at this time of year, because demand is a little lower than in the summer peak. You can enjoy an enchanting setting, delicious food and slightly more attractive rates by choosing to marry at Château de Garde at this time of year.

In short, an autumn wedding at Château de Garde in Moulon is well worth considering if you are looking for an enchanting setting, delicious food and attractive rates. The beauty of the landscape, the richness of seasonal produce and the tranquillity of autumn create a romantic, peaceful atmosphere that will make your wedding even more unforgettable, just as Marie-Sophie and Sébastien experienced.

A Wedding in the Heart of the Bordeaux Vineyards

A unique address for your wedding

Close to Saint-Émilion, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Château de Garde rises among the vines. Built in the 18th century, the château has been entirely renovated by its current owners, Céline and Dimitri.

Today, the château’s style is contemporary, mixing raw materials with noble ones, set off by warm-toned lighting that gives it a cosy, welcoming feel.

At the time of this wedding, the magnificent Château de Garde had just been enhanced once again with absolutely majestic new outdoor spaces.

You will find everything about the venue itself on my Château de Garde wedding photographer page.

The couple fell in love with Château de Garde! The owners were very accommodating and attentive in hosting a wedding celebrated in unusual circumstances.

Marie-Sophie and Sébastien had long since booked the reception hall next to the château for the cocktail hour and the wedding dinner. Unfortunately, the main hall had to close for health reasons.

So the celebration went ahead, but inside the château, with a very small family circle. Of course, their loved ones still brought plenty of joy, which made the evening even warmer.

The couple, their guests and all the wedding suppliers followed the owners’ strict guidelines to the letter, and everything went perfectly.

As an aside, for anyone passionate about film photography: I have the professional equipment needed to cover weddings and engagement sessions on film, always in my Fine Art style. It is available as an option, on request. If you are interested, we can talk it through and plan your future photo session together.

Meeting the couple

It was instant, mutual chemistry when I first met Marie-Sophie and Sébastien in 2019. I was immediately touched by Marie-Sophie’s great sensitivity and Sébastien’s kindness.

At the end of spring 2020, I photographed their beautiful engagement session on Arcachon Bay, including in the village of L’Herbe.

Of course, I stayed in regular contact with the couple during the long months of the first lockdown, and then during the summer lull. Many times on the phone, I sensed Marie-Sophie’s worry at the idea of having to postpone her wedding. Fortunately, it was able to go ahead at the very last minute, under strict health measures, of course.

Talented

The only word that comes to mind to share how I feel about Tristan is: perfection!

Tristan was with us from our engagement session to our wedding day. Extreme kindness, a heart of gold, so much empathy (it took a lot to support me through Covid) and incredible professionalism.
The photos speak for themselves. It’s just wow! An intimate wedding with the people we love, photos that reflect every emotion of the day and, above all, reflect us. We were blown away by the final result. Love, closeness, emotion, sharing... these photos are pieces of us! We couldn’t have dreamed of anything better. Memories engraved forever thanks to Tristan.

A unique day with a unique photographer! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Thank you!

Fine Art couple photos at Château de Garde

After the religious ceremony, held in the sublime Church of Notre-Dame de Cabara, entirely restored inside, we headed to Château de Garde.

We had time for couple photos in the vines, which really mattered to Sébastien. We also explored the château’s many corners, each one different from the last. Every time, I felt as if I were travelling. The couple also wanted some photos on film during this magical session, and the Fine Art result was more than a success.
