Planning Your Wedding at Château Giscours

Finding the ideal wedding venue

Choosing your wedding venue is one of the most important steps in planning your special day. If you are looking for a romantic, historic setting, Château Giscours is an ideal wedding venue.

In the heart of the prestigious Médoc vineyards, Château Giscours is a magnificent estate in the Margaux appellation, with breathtaking views over the surrounding vines. With its vast gardens, its elegant reception hall and its wine ranked as a Grand Cru Classé in 1855, the château is a perfect choice for couples looking for an exclusive and unforgettable wedding venue.

The history of Château Giscours

The history of the estate goes back to the 14th century, when the château was a simple watchtower surrounded by vineyards. Over the centuries, the estate was enlarged and renovated.

In 1847, the estate was bought by Jean-Pierre Pescatore, a leading Parisian banker, who set about rebuilding the present château, modernising the winemaking facilities and improving the quality of the wines. In 1875, Édouard Cruse had the park landscaped and built a model farm, named the "Ferme Suzanne" in honour of his wife. And in 1855, the château entered the classification of the Grands Crus Classés, which secured its reputation for good.

Since 2011, the château, its outbuildings and its park have been listed as historic monuments. Today, the estate is renowned for its fine wines and its magnificent architecture.

Lison and Guillaume’s Fabulous Château Giscours Wedding

It is with real emotion that I look back on Lison and Guillaume’s wedding at Château Giscours.

The wedding ceremony at the church in Arsac

Lison and Guillaume chose to marry at the church in Arsac, a charming little town close to Château Giscours. The ceremony was moving, full of shared moments and emotion. The guests could feel the joy and love radiating from the couple as they exchanged their vows at the altar.

Lison and Guillaume’s natural elegance and the authenticity of their love, as well as their choice of gown, suits and overall style, fitted perfectly into this setting, both chic and understated.

After the ceremony, Lison and Guillaume took time for their couple photos in the beautiful gardens of Château Giscours. The tall trees, the vineyard and the elegant architecture made an idyllic backdrop for their photo session.

The cocktail hour and dinner by Maison Dulou Traiteur

The cocktail hour was catered by Maison Dulou Traiteur, a caterer well known in the region for its culinary skill and quality of service. Guests enjoyed delicious food and drinks while taking in the beauty of the Château Giscours gardens. They were also able to taste the Château Giscours 2018 red, which was truly memorable. I remember drinking a Château Giscours 2021 that was every bit as good, but I must admit that discovering this wine on the very estate where it was born is one of those rare moments you never forget.

As some of you know, I am a great wine lover… and I have a particular fondness for Château Giscours. It is ranked as a Third Growth (troisième grand cru) of Margaux in the official 1855 classification of Bordeaux wines.

Dinner was held in the beautiful reception hall of the Ferme Suzanne at Château Giscours. The tables were elegantly decorated with white flowers and candles, creating a romantic, warm atmosphere. Maison Dulou Traiteur prepared a refined, delicious menu that delighted the guests.

As an aside, for anyone passionate about film photography: I have the professional equipment needed to cover weddings and engagement sessions on film, always in my Fine Art style. It is available as an option, on request. If you are interested, we can talk it through and plan your future photo session together.

I have fond memories of this wonderful couple and of their aesthetic choices, which blended perfectly into the chic, understated setting of Château Giscours. I was touched by their sincere love and their reserve, as well as by the moments of emotion shared with their family and friends.
