A Lifestyle Photoshoot at Home with Marion and Romain's Family

Portrait & Family

Curious about lifestyle photography? Perhaps you have heard of it but feel it is not really for you. Think again: lifestyle photography is not just for magazine shoots! You can also have your own lifestyle photoshoot at home. Here is the at-home family lifestyle session of Marion, Romain and their two children, Oscar and their youngest, little Margaux.

What Is a Lifestyle Photoshoot?

A lifestyle photoshoot is a natural photo session in which the photographer gently guides the people in front of the camera to help them feel at ease. The aim is not to influence what they do, and even less what they feel. Guiding them in this way can bring out poses quite subtly.

"Lifestyle" is a word often used in photography to describe natural poses and natural expressions. Lifestyle photography also favours natural light, in other words daylight.

That is where all the charm of lifestyle photography lies. The idea is to keep only what matters in the pictures. What counts is you: your essence, your individuality and your spontaneity, and those of your children.

A Photoshoot at Home

For their at-home family photoshoot, Marion and Romain welcomed me into their cosy nest after Margaux was born.

We had originally planned a maternity session, but the baby decided to arrive earlier than expected! That is nature’s way, and we welcomed the surprise with immense joy.

It was a joy I shared with Marion and Romain, because we had met before Margaux was born. The couple had first asked me, as their family photographer, to take Oscar’s maternity photos and his newborn photos. Then I came back a year later for a family photoshoot, before Margaux was due to arrive.

I am very grateful to them for trusting me since the very beginning of their life as young parents. It is an honour to create their family memories, their own visual heritage.

Marion and Romain are both lovely. I am happy to know that they feel confident and at ease with me when I come to their home for a photoshoot.

Little Margaux, already very alert, gave us the sweetest expressions: smiles, laughing eyes and charming looks. Her sweet little face radiates a lovely serenity, and more than one person at home has fallen for it!
