Photographer in Bordeaux, France: My Story and My Fine Art Style

Portrait & Family

Looking for a photographer in Bordeaux for your wedding or for a lifestyle photoshoot? In this article, let me introduce my work as a professional photographer in Bordeaux, specialising in Fine Art photography.

Tristan Perrier: A Passion for Art and Images since Childhood

My story with images began when I was seven. That Christmas, my grandparents gave me my first cine camera. I carried on down that path and became a budding filmmaker at eleven, writing my first film and directing a cast. Plenty of ambition from a very young age, then!

In the meantime, I tried my hand at impressions, and from the age of twelve to eighteen I discovered singing. After exploring all these disciplines, I decided to pursue a career as a professional singer.

Despite my determination and my passion for singing, the head of the family had the last word, and business won over art.

After twenty years managing large specialist retail stores, I was running out of steam and thought back to my childhood dreams: becoming an artist. With the support of my wonderful wife and my wonderful children, I closed the chapter on retail and set out as a professional photographer in Bordeaux.

In 2016, I officially became a wedding photographer and portrait photographer.

The response surprised me, and I only regret not making that decision sooner. But as the saying goes: better late than never!

That said, my years in retail taught me a great deal about relationships, both with customers and with the team I helped to grow. I have brought those skills into my work as a photographer. They help me better understand what couples expect, and to answer those expectations by giving the very best of myself.

Wedding Photographer in Bordeaux

I chose to settle in Bordeaux, the capital of the South-West, once nicknamed "la belle endormie", the sleeping beauty. With its unique charm and rich historic heritage, Bordeaux and its wine region inspire me as much as they fascinate me. Even before I moved here, I was already picturing wedding photographs in exceptional places.

A wedding in the historic centre of Bordeaux, or a wedding at the far reaches of the Bordeaux vineyards and their prestigious estates, such as Château Saint-Georges in Saint-Émilion: the ideas came thick and fast.

An engagement session on Arcachon Bay, a trash the dress session on the beaches of the Cap Ferret peninsula, near the oyster huts or deep in the dense and very special vegetation of the Landes de Gascogne: all these natural settings make my wedding photoshoots unforgettable moments.

Since 2016, I have been taking my couples to these strikingly beautiful places with as much pleasure as ever.

As a photographer in central Bordeaux and in the Caudéran district, I know Bordeaux like the back of my hand and can advise you if you would like your photoshoot to take place in the city centre. If you are coming from afar, you can make the most of it and stay in our wonderful city by choosing a lovely hotel in Bordeaux.

Lifestyle Portrait Photographer

As a photographer in Bordeaux, I can recommend the most beautiful places for your lifestyle portrait sessions!

As a portrait photographer specialising in lifestyle photography, I offer outdoor photoshoots as well as indoor ones. A photoshoot at home or in any other indoor setting: I adapt to what you want. I am committed to giving you memories that live up to the trust you place in me.

Every portrait session is different, and my advice always follows the wishes of my clients.

Lifestyle photography is authentic photography that fully reflects your personality and your character. For these lifestyle sessions to succeed, I make a point of meeting and talking with the people I am going to photograph. To capture who you really are, I need to know a little about what you like, what you don’t like, your state of mind, and so on. Emotion can only come through if a relationship of trust builds up over our conversations: getting to know each other over a coffee, on the phone or by video call.

Tell me your wildest dreams and I will do my best to make them come true. I want to give you an unforgettable moment, on your own, as a couple or with your family.

Fine Art Photographer and Artist

At the end of 2019, I trained in the Fine Art photography style with Christophe Serrano (Instagram). He is one of the pioneers of Fine Art wedding photography in France. Known for his talent as a Fine Art photographer in Provence, Christophe now trains professional photographers like me who want to take their artistic sensibility to another level.

Today, I define myself as a Fine Art wedding photographer in Bordeaux and the south-west of France.

I belong to the small minority of Fine Art photographers in Bordeaux and Gironde. My work has been recognised many times, notably by the well-known wedding website mariages.net, which has just given me its Wedding Award 2020.

What Is the Fine Art Photography Style?

You could think of the Fine Art style as being to photography what French gastronomy is to the French art of living: elegance, and the deepest sensibility an artist can express.

In French, "Fine Art" has come to suggest "la finesse de l’art", the finesse of art. A modern American photographic movement linked to wedding photography, the Fine Art style has made its way to France quite naturally. Our country is so admired for its elegance and its craftsmanship, in food as in the arts, and so appreciated by visitors from abroad, that it was only natural to see Fine Art photographs at French weddings.

Becoming a Fine Art wedding photographer and artist was obvious to me. It was my own obvious path, one that finally revealed itself after all those years of exciting artistic discoveries since early childhood.
