An At-Home Maternity Photoshoot in Bordeaux with Flavie and Guillaume

Portrait & Family

Discover Flavie and Guillaume’s maternity photoshoot, at their home in Bordeaux. I hope it inspires you if you are expecting a happy event in the coming months. As a maternity photographer, I come to your home for this kind of photoshoot.

Preparing Flavie’s Maternity Photoshoot

Before welcoming me into their home for Flavie’s maternity photos, the couple put real effort into making everything perfect.

A maternity photoshoot is something you plan ahead, so that the photos reflect your personality and the atmosphere you want them to have.

If you are also wondering how to prepare and what to wear for your maternity photoshoot, this session may give you some ideas.

And if you are not sure when to have your maternity photoshoot, don’t worry: the right time is when you feel physically ready. That is part of the preparation too! The most important thing is not to force yourself. Whether you are five or eight months pregnant, what matters in the end is how you feel, physically and emotionally.

Flavie, for her part, waited until her eighth month! That is why you can admire her beautifully round bump, one month before the birth.

A Couple Maternity Photoshoot

Of course, Flavie was the queen of the day! But Guillaume also wanted to be there and to appear in a few photos. Like a happy father-to-be, impatient to meet his child, Guillaume loved stepping into the scene.

Guillaume is a discreet, reserved person, so we needed to put him at ease while we prepared for the session. That said, he was wonderful in front of the camera, and knew when to step back and leave Flavie, his wife, in the spotlight.

What to Wear for a Maternity Photoshoot?

As you probably know, from a certain point in pregnancy, tight clothes become uncomfortable to wear, first of all because the body changes and wide movements become more and more difficult.

When I photograph a maternity session, it is essential to me that the mother-to-be feels comfortable. So if we do not already know each other, I suggest we meet first, so that you can get to know me and see whether you feel at ease and confident with me. This step matters all the more if you have not already worked with me for a couple session or a wedding.

Now, back to Flavie and her outfit! Flavie chose to keep her style simple, but feminine and elegant: classic blue jeans, with a white lace bra and kimono set on top.

Flavie did not want to wear lingerie designed specially for pregnant women. She wanted an outfit that matched her boho-chic style, and she wore a crown of dried flowers in her hair.

For the photos outdoors, in their garden in its autumn colours, the mum-to-be wore beige heeled ankle boots and a long wool cardigan in the same colour over her white lace kimono. Luckily, Guillaume’s arms were soon there to keep her warm!

Flavie spent a long time preparing this photoshoot, especially her outfits and one particular scene she had her heart set on.

Flavie and Guillaume: our story

I first met Flavie and Guillaume in 2018, at their engagement session on the beach in Lacanau, in Gironde. They have stayed loyal to me ever since.

That same year, the couple also asked me to photograph their wedding at Château Isabeau de Naujan. Then, a year later, Flavie and Guillaume took me back to the south beach in Lacanau for after-wedding photos.

Their maternity photoshoot was a shared joy, and I thank them once again for their loyalty.
